About Us

PICC

The Plastics Innovation Competence Center is a “one-stop shop” for industry to address technological challenges related to plastics, and to find innovative solutions for the short & long-term. We offer industry project-based R&I combining the latest science and technology with environmental and commercial requirements for present and future plastic products.

We are legally represented by the University of Applied Sciences and Arts Western Switzerland (HES-SO) and the School of Engineering and Architecture in Fribourg (HEIA-FR). The PICC is a collaborative and innovation platform of HEIA-FR institutes that offers expanded and complementing services to address short and long term industrial challenges.

RESEARCH & EQUIPMENT

The combined knowledge and expertise of the Institute of Applied Plastics Research (iRAP), the Institute for Chemical Technology (ChemTech) and the Institute for Complex Systems (ICoSys) enables to offer complete and pragmatic industrial solutions. ​​​​

The Plastics Innovation Competence Center (PICC) offers advice on the selection and processing of plastics, develops alternative ​product options and finds innovative, sustainable and commercially attractive solutions.

Through applied research and development (R&D) projects or services, we develop and design pragmatic solutions for the industry for the future, in particular using bio-based plastics.
