Despite the high PET bottles recycling rate in Switzerland, additional efforts are needed today. In 2017, over 45.350 tons of PET bottles were produced, representing over 3.02 billion bottles.
RCoins aims to help make the transition from a linear to a circular economy by encouraging citizens to be more proactive towards recycling, incentivizing them via an innovative crowd-investment and reward platform.
By leveraging the blockchain technology, citizens will be able to collect tokens as a result of their recycling actions. Tokens can then be used to gain benefits for virtual goods or could be invested in selected companies that have a clear social or environmental impact mission.
Each token invested will represent an equity part in the selected companies – equity-crowdfunding model - meaning citizens will be entitled to a financial return in case of a liquidity event or exit (or shadow shares).
